large-collars-logwood-purple
Large collars - logwood purple

From the color of scorched copper to deep purple, these fluffy collars are dyed with logwood bark and a touch of iron. Laces are sheep leather tanned with tanoak bark, available in three variations: #1 more coppery purple with medium brown suede laces, #2 deep purple with iron grey laces, #3 deep purple with medium brown long laces.

This sheepskin was naturally veg tanned by me, from sheepskins salvaged from the waste stream of a butcher outside of Marion, NC.

---

My sheepskins are tanned with mimosa (Acacia mearnsii) tannin extract, with additional ingredients used in the process including: salt, citric acid, soap, and distilled vinegar. They are softened with sheep tallow soap, sunflower seed lecithin, and sunflower oil.

Because the tanning and washing process I use does not involve harsh petroleum-derived solvents, and instead mostly handwork, the wool may contain seeds or small pieces of leaves and other vegetable matter, and it may also retain a faint smell of sheep and bark. Enjoy it! To care for this hide, air it out often. You can handwash with warm water and soap and line dry, or fill your washer and allow to soak. More info on my process, cleaning & care.
