Sheepskin #5 - 22" x 34"

This sheepskin has short, very dense wool, and is a nice larger sheepskin for draping over the couch, your favorite reading nook, a camping bedroll or a bedroom rug. There is a blue paint mark on the rump wool, used by their shepherds to mark and identify sheep within the larger flock, a nice little reminder of their former life. The leather on this is thicker, but will soften and relax with use, and one hole that doesn't show through the wool. 

This sheepskin was naturally veg tanned, from a sheep raised by Blackthorn Farm & Kitchen in Sandy Mush, NC.

This hide is tanned with mimosa (Acacia mearnsii) tannin extract, with additional ingredients used in the process including: salt, citric acid, Charlie's soap, and distilled vinegar. They are softened with sunflower seed lecithin and organic sunflower oil. 

Because the tanning and washing process I use does not involve harsh petroleum-derived solvents, and instead mostly handwork, the wool may contain seeds or small pieces of leaves and other vegetable matter, and it may also retain a faint smell of sheep and bark. Enjoy it! To care for this hide, air it out often, but when needed these are machine washable on a cold/gentle cycle!
