Sheepskin #8 - 21" x 33"

If you're looking for a sheepskin for a favorite reading nook to be totally enveloped in, this is the (other) one! I suspect this is from the same flock as #5, but much cleaner and with slightly longer fiber. The wool is quite soft and extremely long, averaging about 6-7" in length. The leather is extremely supple and thin, and it has been patched with a natural grey wool and a goldenrod dyed scrap and 100% organic cotton thread.

I suspect this is a Romney or merino cross, it is still quite lanolin rich and the wool had a lot more crimp before brushing to remove vm.

This sheepskin was naturally veg tanned by me, and diverted from the waste stream of a butcher shop outside of Marion, NC.

This hide is tanned with mimosa (Acacia mearnsii) tannin extract, with additional ingredients used in the process including: salt, citric acid, Charlie's soap, and distilled vinegar. They are softened with sunflower seed lecithin and organic sunflower oil. 

Because the tanning and washing process I use does not involve harsh petroleum-derived solvents, and instead mostly handwork, the wool may contain seeds or small pieces of leaves and other vegetable matter, and it may also retain a faint smell of sheep and bark. Enjoy it! To care for this hide, air it out often, but when needed these are machine washable on a cold/gentle cycle!
