Wild violet - patchwork sheepskin #3

This patchwork sheepskin is sewn together from many different naturally tanned cream, off white and plant dyed (logwood) scraps in a range of wool lengths. This is the fluffiest and densest of the bunch! Use it as a bedside rug, car seat warmer, at a loom bench or sewing desk, or as a light packable sheepskin to go on summer adventures.

Approximate measurements taken from the leather side:  12.5" x 20"

This sheepskin is tanned with mimosa (Acacia mearnsii) tannin extract, with additional ingredients used in the process including: salt, citric acid, soap, and distilled vinegar. They are softened with sunflower seed lecithin and organic sunflower oil. 

Because the tanning and washing process I use does not involve harsh petroleum-derived solvents, and instead mostly handwork, the wool may contain seeds or small pieces of leaves and other vegetable matter, and it may also retain a faint smell of sheep and bark. Enjoy it! To care for this hide, air it out often. You can handwash with warm water and soap and line dry, or fill your washer and allow to soak. More info on my process, cleaning & care.
